Not even Acending your Character brings that much of a boost. Weapon from lvl 80 to 90 only give small atk increase, lets take wolf gravestone for example. From 80 to 90 you only get 74 base atk and 6.6% atk, that's really nothing. And this is 5* weapon, lower rarity will give even less atk increase.

Then level up your characters. And don’t be shy to max upgrade your main dps artifacts even if it’s a 3*. Do the blue ley line to get exp books for your character levels to keep up. If they are too much, you can wait until your characters are stronger to do ascension quest. At WL5 you can lower your WL by 1.

Yes the rewards do get better, Monster drops get better & Leyline rewards increases. Here is the thing if you don't ascend you can't access higher level domains, which have 5-star items. Instead you end up wasting resin on 4-star items which become useless later own. Need stronger items to get stronger. But you need to be already strong to get

Personally, I'm not struggling in the content but I have friends who are. You could even drop your world level, and as a result, your characters/weapons will temporarily drop to the max allowed at that certain world level. This can be beneficial to co-op too, so lower level friends can join your world (for some reason I can't think of). zTXlI.
